Journal #6

Journal #6

This article, “JEAN BAUDRILLARD. SIMULACRA AND SIMULATIONS” I think was too long.  For a topic that didn’t interest me very much, it made me have to re-read a lot of the paragraphs because I would actually forget what I read. I don’t think there was a whole lot of point to it- didn’t really need a whole story if there was trying to be a point made. Maybe it was trying to tell us what still exists and doesn't exist? Not sure…

Reminded me more of like a history lesson, at some points reading a story about Italy. Or when it talks about the communists attacking the socialist party and wanted to shatter the union of the left. But then again it does tell you about how they’re trying to get the message across, psychological aspects,  power etc.  Ideology is a part of art because you have to be creative, and that's in there too.

I feel like to enjoy this article, you have to really have a true passion for art. So it would be a great interesting read for people that are in to these kinds of topics.

Journal #5

Journal #5

I read “Steal Like an Artist” by Austin Kleon. Honestly, probably the best thing I’ve read in this class. More useful in life than other short videos and random art historians, or art performers.. NOT theatre actors (they just look like they’re acting).
But on with Steal Like an Artist. It was a good read to me because it reminds you how you should really live life, because sometimes I feel like people get so caught up in things they forget what life is about. It basically reminds people, or tells people, little things that make life that much better. Like simply “be nice”- saying to stop correcting people and go do something. I’m not an artist, at all, but I feel like some artists should go read that because they get so into only liking other art people.  Another thing that I liked in this article was #9 "Geography is no longer our master".  I love that because we should surround our selves with people and things we love. If you don't like it some where you're at, why stay there? If you don't think you have a good life where you're at- do something about it.  It was encouraging to me reading it because it made me think of things I am doing right, and things I realized I could work on to be a better person.  The whole perception of the article was just refreshing reading thinking some people still think that positive way.

Journal #4

I downloaded some free cites this week in replace for Adobe, Gimp and Photo sketch. Gimp has been doing simpler things with layers and textures, photo sketch has different features though. Like for instance if you want to make a Sphere, you should use photo sketch. I, like making more of 3d pictures. Or 3d with textures. I'm slowly learning new things on here- so much to learn!
